La entrevista que hoy colgamos es a uno de esos artistas que siempre ha estado en la escena, trabajando por y para la musica y que tras los años esta logrando el reconocimiento merecido. Como uno de los integrantes de el sello La peña, Con sus produciones en Below y sobretodo con sus memorables sesiones en el Robert Johnshon de Offembach. Hoy con ustedes Meat.

1-.Meat... You are from offenbach, germany ¿what you emphasize of this place?
Meat ... tu eres de Offenbach , alemania ¿que destacarias de ese lugar?
this is the place were i was born and were i living now for the last 20 years.
it is also a nice place to relax and go out in the night. for example robert johnson is located in offenbach. here is also one of the leading art schools in germany which brings many creativity to this city.
and of course it is not far away from frankfurt which brings also a lot possibilities in life.
Este es el lugar en el que naci y he vivido los ultimos 20 años .
Es tambien un buen lugar para relajarse y salir de noche . Por ejemplo el Robert Johnshon se encuentra en Offembach . Es tambien donde se encuentra una de las escuelas de arte punteras de alemania, que aporta mucha creatividad a esta ciudad.
Y tambien esta no está muy lejos de frankfurt, que da un monton de posibilidades de vida.
2-. you are a part of La Peña . how coordinate the label?
Tu eres parte de la peña . ¿como coordinais el sello?
i am not running the label. the guys from einzelkind doing everything for that label. but we are all good friends and spend a lot of time together.
Yo no dispongo el sello . Los chicos de Einzelkind hacen todo lo del sello . Pero todos somos buenos amigos y pasamos mucho tiempo juntos.

it is hard a the moment to keep the music rollin. anyhow, the beat just goes straight on and on….! and we do our best to keep the record alive!
we also founded a new sneaker section in our shop. so we are not only a record shop anymore. we try to bring music and fashion together.

también fundamos una seccion de zapatillas de deporte nuevas en nuestra tienda . Con ello no queresmos ser una tienda de discos mas , sino de llevar la musica y la moda juntas.
4-. regularly work all over Europe . when you'll see in Spain?

i don't know exactly a the moment when i will be next in spain.
played many times at mondo and twice for goa. so i hope i will be back very soon again.
honestly i love madrid (and spain too) , one of my top 5 cities in the world! so i must come back very soon!!!

muchas veces pinche en Mondo y dos veces para Goa. así que espero estar muy pronto de vuelta otra vez.

5-. Tribal techno house, with groovy, is very strong now. You bring enough time with this style. How do you see the scene now?
el techno-house tribal , con groovy, esta muy fuerte en este momento . LLevas bastante tiempo en este estilo . ¿como ves la escena actual?
for my opinion the percussion loop house sound will find to an end the next months. pure proper house music will take more place in the clubs next.
En mi opinion los loops de percusion llegaran a desaparecer en lso proximos meses . La musica House pura tendra mas importancia en los clubes.
6-. How is your studio?
¿como es tu estudio?
i am working at home , what means more freedom to do when ever i want to make music. i have some drum machines, synths and some controllers . thats it. enough to come to a result !
but i also producing together with chris wood at the moment in a really well equipped studio.
Estoy trabajando en casa, lo que significa más libertad para hacer musica cada vez que quiero hacer música. Tengo algunas cajas de ritmos, sintetizadores y algunos controladores. Eso es todo. lo suficiente como para llegar a un resultado!
pero también produzco junto con Chris woods en este momento en un estudio muy bien equipado.
7-.for children who want to make her first record . what advice would you give?
para los chicos que quieren hacer su primer disco . ¿que els aconsejarias?
just start with it. learning by doing is the thing for me. and use your own ideas, sounds and of course your own mind.
simplemente que empiecen . Aprender haciendo es lo importante para mi . Y sobretodo el uso de sus propias ideas, sonidos y en definitiva de su propia mente.
8-. How do you started in the electronic music?
¿como empezastes en la musica electronica?
playing records at home for hours and hours and days and months…..!
i am addicted in new music since 25 years. it is always like christmas when new records arriving in our shop.
just loved to be at the decks for hours.
the freebase records shop opened beginning in the 90s. we are running the shop now for about 15 years. so it was just the consequence of my work everyday to start djing!

Yo soy adicto a la nueva música desde hace 25 años. siempre es como la Navidad, cuando los discos nuevos que llegan a nuestra tienda.
me encanta estar en las mesas por horas.
la tienda freebase abrimos a partir de los años 90. estamos llevando de la tienda desde hace unos 15 años. por lo que era sólo la consecuencia de mi trabajo día a día para empezar a pinchar!
9-. For your sets, mixes with vinyl, CD or you laptop with live?
para tus sets, ¿usas vinilo, cds o ordenador tipo live?
i still play vinyl and a couple cds. i won't switch to laptop. thats not very sexy and for me not a good alternative to vinyls or cds. playing music like writing emails, not 4 me!!!
todavia pincho en vinilo y un par de cds . No cambiare al ordenador , eso no es muy sexy para mi y no es la alternativa a los vinilos y los cds. Reproducir musica como escribir emails no es para mi!!!
10-. if you were not a deejay/ A&R, what do you think you were??
si no fueras deejay/a&r , ¿que crees que abrias sido?

11-.of all the clubs and festivals you've played, what would you highlight?
de todos los clubs y festivales donde has actuado, ¿cuales destacarias?
my home base robert johnson is for me one of the best clubs in the world.
good crowd good soundsystem and , even if it is not very crowded , always with good atmosphere. and of course fabric and the goa parties are very nice places to play. and last but not least mondo.
but there are many many many more places were i had good fun the last years.
mi base , Robert johnshon es uno de los mejores clubes del mundo.
gente buena, buen sistema de sonido , aunque no es muy concurrida, siempre tiene buen ambiente . Y por supuesto Fabric & Goa son lugares muy agradables para pinchar . Y por ultimo no menos importante es Mondo.
Pero existen muchos lugares en los que me divertido en los ultimos años.
12-. Do you have a place you particularly like to play?
¿Tienes un lugar favorito para pinchar?
i like very much playing on boats. of course thats the place where pirates feel at home!
Me encanta mucho pinchar en barcos . Por supuesto es el sitio donde los piratas se encuentran en casa!
13-.Where you are more comfortable in the studio, in the club or a big festival?
¿donde te encuentras más comodo , en el estudio, en un club o en un gran festival?
it depence. but usually i prefer small or midsize clubs. you are closer to the crowd and feel the party more intensive then on big stages. being part of the party not being the director of it!
Eso depende . Aunque normalmente prefiero clubes pequeños o medianos . estar más cerca de la multitud y sentir la parte más intensiva que en grandes escenarios. Ser parte de la fiesta no ser el director de ella!
14-. What is the fundamental track that could not miss in your suitcase?
¿cual es el disco fundamental que no puede faltar en tu maleta?
there are a couple tracks which follow me now over the years. most of them are old chicago house productions! some jacking shit! i like the way they're booty shakin !!!
Hay un par de discos que me siguen ahora con los años. la mayoría de ellos son viejas producciones de Chicago house! algo de jacking shit! Me gusta la forma en que booty shakin!

i've been there at the beginning of the season for a wedding of a good friend.
i enjoyed the island very much but i didn't play this year. i should have played at space but i wasn't free the dates they wanted to book me.
estube al comienzo de la temporada para la boda de un buen amigo.
disfrute de la isla un monton, pero no he pinchado este año alli. Deberia haber pinchado en Space, pero la fecha de contratacion no estaba libre.

working a lot in the studio with my mates from Einzelkind and Chris Wood.
there is one new relese coming very soon from me and chris wood.
and after i finished two remix projects i will work harder on some solo productions.
Estamos trabajando un monton en el estudio junto a mis amigos de einzelkind y chris wood.
Tenemos un trabajo que saldra muy pronto junto a chris wood.
